Invite people you work with to a Canva team to make collaboration easy, or add students in your class to share learning resources and assignments.
On the other hand, you can consider removing people that are inactive or that you don’t need on your team to reduce your subscription cost.
To create a team in Canva, begin a free trial or upgrade to Canva Teams. Upgrading unlocks collaboration, premium features, and the ability to add or modify Team members. Learn more about Canva Teams here.
Inviting users to join your team
- On the top corner of the homepage, click the gear icon to go to your Settings.
- From the side menu, click People.
- On the banner or at the bottom of the page, click Invite people.
- Enter their email addresses.
- Click Confirm and Invite.
We’ll email them an invitation link, which is valid for 30 days and can only be used once. If the links don’t work, send new invitations.
If the Get invite link option is available to you, click on it to generate a link that you can share to easily invite people to your team. If you need to deactivate the invite link, click Deactivate Invite Link in the same pop-up to prevent previous invitees from using it. People will be added as team members by default. You can change their roles after they’ve accepted your invitation. See the section below for steps on how to do this.

Removing members
- On the top corner of the homepage, click the gear icon to go to your Settings.
- From the side menu, click People.
- Click the role dropdown next to a person.
- Select Remove from team.
- To retain the designs of a member you wish to remove, select Transfer designs and remove from team. Make sure ownership transfer is enabled to do this. Learn more about Transferring design ownership.
- To remove the member and their designs completely, select Remove from team only.
- Click Remove to confirm and finish.
Changing team roles
- On the top corner of the homepage, click the gear icon to go to your Settings.
- From the side menu, click People.
- Click the role dropdown next to a person.
- Select a new role to change their access. Learn more about the different team roles and permissions.
If you’d like to change your team role, contact your school team admins or Teachers.

Approving or declining join requests
If you're a team admin and you've set your team discovery to Anyone at my domain can request to join, you’ll receive requests to join your team.
- On the top corner of the homepage, click the gear icon to go to your Settings.
- From the side menu, click People
- Under incoming requests, click or to approve or to decline.
