When You Can Use This Guide
Discover how to use lessons in Canva for creating educational content and monitoring student progress. This page is for educators looking to utilize ready-to-teach lessons or to develop custom lessons with various educational resources.

Understanding Lessons in Canva
You can choose from ready-to-teach lessons or create your own using your preferred educational content. Canva offers a range of templates and resources to help you design the perfect lesson for your students.

Using Ready-to-Teach Lessons
  1. On the homepage, click on 'Templates'.
  2. In the side panel, choose 'Education' to explore available lessons.
  3. View all options by scrolling sideways or selecting 'Resource Type' and then 'Lessons'.
  4. Click on a lesson to preview its subject and grade level, and review the designs included.
  5. Use the 'Use Lesson' button to save the lesson in your Projects folder, which includes teacher answer keys.

Creating Your Own Lesson
  1. From the homepage, select 'Projects'.
  2. Click on 'Add new' and choose 'Lesson'.
  3. You can turn any folder into a lesson by selecting 'More', then 'Turn into a lesson'.
  4. Browse template options by subject, grade, or resource type, and apply filters as needed.

Editing, Sharing, and Assigning Lessons
  1. In your lesson folder, update the lesson name or description by selecting the 'Banner'.
  2. Edit activities within the lesson and add new designs as needed.
  3. If students need their own copy of an activity, change the Activity Experience to 'Solo Work'.
  4. Arrange activities by dragging them into the desired order, and remove any using the three-dot menu.
  5. To share a lesson, click 'Share' and input the names of colleagues. You can also collaborate by sending them a link.
  6. Assign lessons to students by selecting 'Assign lesson', then follow prompts to create or select a class, notify students, and provide additional instructions if needed.

Tracking Lesson Completion
Teachers can monitor student progress through the Reporting tab, which shows the number of students who have started, are in progress, or have completed the lesson.

Managing Student Activities
  1. Follow the link provided by your teacher to access your lessons.
  2. Complete activities in order, clicking 'Next activity' to proceed.
  3. Finished activities should be submitted back to your teacher. In solo work, edit your copy and send it to the teacher's dropdown selection.
