When and Why to Use Furigana
Adding furigana to your Japanese text can help in ensuring proper pronunciation, especially when using kanji characters. It’s particularly useful for educational purposes or for those who are not yet fluent in reading kanji.

Overview of Furigana
Furigana are small hiragana characters placed above kanji to indicate their pronunciation. This feature is available to you if you are based in Japan or using Canva in Japanese. However, please note that furigana cannot be added if your text exceeds 2000 characters.

Steps to Add Furigana
  1. Select the text where you would like to add furigana.
  2. In the floating toolbar, click on **More**. Alternatively, you can find the furigana option under **Apps** in the side panel.
  3. Choose **Furigana.**
  4. If your design contains multiple text boxes, highlight the specific boxes you want to apply furigana to from the side panel.
  5. Click **Apply** to add the furigana.

How to Edit Furigana
  1. Double-click the text box containing the furigana you want to change.
  2. Adjust or remove the content as needed, using the text editing options available.
  3. Click outside the text box to complete your changes. To prevent furigana from overlapping with original text, increased line spacing greater than 1.4 may be required.

Removing Furigana Text Boxes
  1. Select the text box you wish to delete.
  2. Use the floating toolbar to select **Delete**, or simply press the **Backspace** (for Windows) or **Delete** (for Mac) key on your keyboard.
